Assuming you have two computers, what is the OS for each one?
What is your primary logon set for if they are both 9X machines? And how is the My Docs folder shared? Requiring password?
If they are NT, how do you log onto each one....username/password?

My OS is Windows 2000 and the other computer is Windows 98. I have no idea about your other questions. Does the workgroup name have to be the same?

Technically the workgroup does not have to be the same, just makes it easier for people not used to networking to find computers in the first layer of the network neighborhood.
Next question, which computer is LiLxKiMcHeE ? The Win98 machine or the 2K machine?
2K machine? Well, you wanted Windows 2000, now learn it's security with creating accounts for the computer. User Manager, create an account with a username and password. Now share the folders that you want, including that new account as to who you shared to. Now log onto your Win98 machine with that exact username and account. Or you can remember what you created for the Administrator password on the 2K box (I hope you aren't logging in as Administrator as an every day practice), make sure the share is shared to Administrator, and log onto your Win98 box as Administrator with the same password.

LiLxKiMcHeE would be the Windows 98. Should i be logging in as Administrator or Guest? Before i had Windows 2000 i didnt have to type in a password to share files with my other computer. Can i make it so i dont have to type in a password?
what platforms are you using ie FAT to NTFS? do you get the error msg $IPC? if you are then you have to create an account for the FAT machine on the NTFS machine
okay...

Ok. Ive switched my OS to Windows ME. Now when i try to find the other computer in Network Places my computer freezes up. Both computers should be setup right. Anybody know what the heck is going on?
You don't have to be logged in on the 98 machine as the user that is created on the 2k machine.
Just create a user/pass on the 2k mchine. connect to the 2k share from the 98 when the username/pass prompt comes up enter the user/pass created on the 2k machine.

Whatever user name you use on the win98 machine, make a user on the win2k machine with the same name. I don't know if the password matters, you can try leaving it blank on the win2k machine, but if it doesn't work, then set the password on the win2k user to the same PW you use on the other one.
example:
win98 machine is called 98, win2k is called 2k
if you usually log onto 98 as "joe," then create a user on 2k called joe, and give it the same PW you use on 98. It doesn't matter what you log onto 2k with, as long as the user from 98 exists on 2k.
