View Full Version : XP and WIN2K on a lan
ok i ahve 2 pcs an a linksys router i have internet on both pcs and my WIN2k PC can see and get into the XP but the XP can see the WIN2k pc BUT it can get into the WIN2k both pcs have the same workgroup and a different name
here is the thing when i turn off both pcs and i turn them on again and i try to connecct from the XP pc to the WIN2K PC i am asked for a password so i put the same workgroup name and it said that the network path was not found What can i do help i need help

It is asking for username/password, not workgroup name. You will want to set up all of your user accounts on both boxes - need to have at least one in common between the two with W2K on NTFS.
Example: XP box has Administrator with passwd of "xxx" and the other has Adminsitrator with passwd of "yyy". When connecting to shares on the W2K box from XP, it will ask for the password for Administrator (because the one you used to log into the XP box doesn't exist on the W2K box).
I only used Administrator as an example. It is general not best practive to use the Admin account unless there is a reason...

ok the thing is that i can connect from WIN2k to XP but not from XP to WIN2k whne i try to i am asked by a passwrod i have try everything i have possible put as a password somewhere but it still with out connect i can even send files from WIN2k to XP but not from xp to WIN2k
if anyone knows how to solve that i ll really apretiate it
