I’m running a server with NT4 & service pack 6 on it. About every 4 hours I get the blue screen of death. It will tell me that “a physical dump has occurred” I have to shut the serve down for about 30min then it will run for another 4 hours and start over.
I have looked on Microsoft’s page, and that tells me nothing.

Have you tried reinstalling service pack 6 .. I was having reboot problems on my 2000 server and reinstalled the service pack 2 and no more reboots.
Have you has this setup for a while and running good or is this a new setup for you?
Are you using a SCSI card at all? Another reboot problem I had 6-8 months ago... was I found out my Adaptec SCSI card was known to have issues with the VIA Apollo chip set running at 100mhz, I backed it down to 95mhz and no more porblems.
Have you tried reading the dump check files

Murman,
Thanks I'll try this. I have had this running for some time now, it just started about a month ago.

You have to find out what is causing the dump...you'll see a file that kicks it off.
Also make sure you're putting on Service Pack 6.0a, not plain 6.0 which had many problems.
Are you using NT 4 compatible hardware? NT 4 Server or Workstation?
Event Viewer....what are your last entries in system and application before you see the last "unexpected shutdown" message.
Heading over to http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com to download all the latest security updates are good....especially that 14 meg security rollout fix. Basically that one is the unofficial Service pack 7. You won't be able to see that update as available until you download the first critical update, reboot, and log on again.
