ok...i have winXP build 2600...and i noticed this file on my GF computer witch i also set up with XP...its in
C:\windows\system32

its called wowexec.exe

she has a couple virus she got thru MSN and when i looked thru her system32 foler i say wowexec.exe...i thought it might be a virus file...so i del it..(not my system :D ) anywya it poped back up like 5 seconds later....wouldnt del...then i get home and i have the same file....could someone runnin XP plz check to see if they have it>?????would save me some worrying..thx

I have it, that file is used for launching 16 bit applications, so yes, it is a virus :rotfl: :rotfl:

ok one outher i noticed....when i go into msconfig..then the WIN.INI file...i have a box called hkjhk and in that is anouther file called nnhjhkj=100269348

you got that one?

Nope, but then again, we don't have the same apps installed. Win.ini is not the same for everyone so if you have an entry there that I don't have, it doesn't mean that the file is suspicious.

Then update your virus def's and then do a full system scan.

did...norton 2002 and 2001...tried both..updated 2......but i know for a fact my grl has that MSN george W bush Virus....and norton didnt pick it up...its proobublly nothin...just paranoid me...ask anyone who knows me..iam INSANE about my security....my firewalla is so secure.....i block EVERYTHing even banners in AIM...anyway yea...

I have it too but as it is in my i386 folder and it says it is from MS, I don't understand why this 16 but app launcher is a virus. COuld someone enlighten me, please?

What I'll do sometimes is scan another computer from a differnt computer over the network. some viruses disable anti-virus programs, so its best to scan over the network. takes a little bit longer though...
