I am running Win2k, I can not view what is in my program file folder. I do not get the option to click the small icon "show all"
all I get is what looks like an empty folder but in the bottom corner it is telling me that I have 30 some odd items and 5 hidden.
I also can not get into the add/remove funtion in the control pannel. The window opens but there is nothing in there.
any ideas out there, I have only had win2k for a week and I don't now all of here little trick yet.

Are you logged on as Administrator?

Yes, I am. I have it set up so it automaticaly sets up as administator every time since I am the only one using the computer right now.

Go into windows explorer.

Tools

Folder options

View

Check "show hidden files and folders"

and also check, uncheck anything else that bugs you.

e.g. hide known file extentions etc.

2Bullish about summed it up.

Windows has always hidden many files by default. It's up to the Adminstrators to change those settings.

Nope, I just tried that after reading your post 2Bullish and they are still not shown. The little bar on the bottom left is telling me that there are 38 files in there but I can's see them.

Here is exactly what I did the other night to cause this problem.
*stupid school assignment*
I downloaded a antivirus program "Kaspersky" and installed it. Before I installed it I disabled my Norton Antivirus, after scanning it to make sure it was clean. I ran my scanns and saved my work with Kaspersky onto my school disk. I went into control pannel to unisnstall it with "add/remove software" and the window opend with nothing in it, when I tryed to close the window it locked up my computer until I went into task manager and hit "end task"
I though I could just delete from the programs floder but as I have said nothing is viewable in it now.

Could this be some sort of virus? I was able to delete some of it with explorer but when you righ click on something with the mouse the option is there to scan it for viruses with Kaspersky.

I am totaly stuck.

Before you do that, try hitting F8 at bootup and see if there is an option to use the last known good registry.
