In Win 98 it's control panel, network, and all I have to do is find the tcp/ip associated with my network card, and change the numbers to 192 168 1 10 and 255 255 255 0.
Now how do I do this in Windows 2000Pro?

An even quicker way for Win9X and NT 4 was to right click network neighborhood...select properties....and BAM...you were right there, ready to adjust whatever you wanted.
With ME, 2K, and XP....Microsoft had to throw in some more useless steps to make it more difficult for us who work on networks all day long.
Right click the very Apple Mac like named "My Network Places", select properties. Then right click "Local Area Connection" and select properties again.
And if you want Advanced features like bindings....no longer right there under each protocols properties...you have to back out to the first "My Network Places" windows, drop down "Advanced", then select "Advanced Settings".
Although what does any of this have to do with "Internet slows down"? Specifying an IP address only shaves a couple of seconds off of boot up time, since you don't have to query for a DHCP server to hand you the IP address info, such as IP address, Gateway, and DNS.
