Been using Mindspring DSL for a while now. Got an email from Time Warner telling me that RR is available. I've been pretty pleased with my DSL connection. 1.2 meg down/220k up. But I live a little over 13000 feet from the CO.

I mostly play games online and do some pretty heavy downloading often. Mostly Counter-Strike where my pings are in the 90-110ms.

My question is should I switch to the RR or keep my DSL? My friend that lives a town over just got RR and his ping is anywhere between 20-60ms.

What are some of the pros and cons of either switching to RR or keeping Mindspring DSL?

Well.. I would say two factors when considering TWCRR: Your regional network, and node population. Your MindSpring DSL connection might deliver higher pings to a CT server, but this might be due to a heavily used CT server, or a fairly long network path to it from your end. Cable modems add yet another problem that might make matters worst, node population. If there are lots of gamers or heavy surfers in your neighborhood, not only will your latency increase, but your overall net access experience might be inferior to your DSL connection. I would say try TWCRR for a month or so, and compare it to your DSL connection. If it proves more efficient, then drop your DSL.
