I'm having a problem with since changing my modem from using an NIC to usb where the only way I can get it to connect is to power off the modem for 10 secs thereabouts thus causing it to Reboot fully it then connects fine unless the pc is rebooted then I have to dis the modem again. My cable comp(Telewest) doesn't offer any support on this any help would be appreciated.

Cheers

The best way of connecting is through a nic, usb has some problems with broadband. If you can put the nic back in or go buy and intel, linksys, or a netgear. Those are good qaulity nics that will give you less problems and probably better speed.:)

The only USB NICs I've seen to be reliable are NetGear ones...otherwise...most of us far prefer the reliability of a PCI NIC over a USB NIC. Really no speed difference, even though USB NICs are technically slower across a network than PCI NICs, your broadband connection is far far slower than the USB NIC anyways...so it's not your bottleneck.

But USB is kinda flakey, and more CPU intensive too.
