try doing a tracert, under win9x/me go to start-run-command and type command. then type tracert www.yahoo.com and post your results. Another is that you may be going through a proxy server. In internet explorer go to tools-internet options-connections tab-lan settings- uncheck anything thats there. Do you have an @home service? they are having network problems everywhere so it might not just be you. If you do have @home did you install thier software?
sorry for replying late..i replyed this same statement in another post and i am copying it here..
Old PC
--------------
pentium 166
32mb ram
win98
one NIC
New PC
---------------
AMD 1.4GHZ
256MB Ram
MSI K7t266 pro Mobo
two NIC's with seperate IRQ's
Network
-----------------
installed wingate, using standard network coennection for a person who want to share a cable modem with both his pc's so far both pc's work and can access the internet....
the proxy thing didnt show any significant increase in speed :P but then what increases in speed these days :P
but after doing that proxy thing...i seem to be getting a lot of DNS errors... it could be because optus is doing a routine maintainance thats lasting 4 days ... and its pure coincidental...
if others are having the same prob i would be happy to hear you out... maybe its just the maintainance and not my connection ...
the tracert reveal this with out the sites..unless if you want that too..
