Ok, this pretains to games that I try to run on my system. When i first recieved my system i could begin a game of counter-strike (that is, the game is loaded and i am in the actual game playing) in about 5 seconds. (it must first connect with the server, then load the game). After a few months it now takes upwards of 45 seconds just to connect, whether it is the first time or not (after the first connect, if u dont leave the entire game, the load time SHOULD be cut extremely). With my old 200mhz system it would take almost 5 min to connect the first time, but only 10-20 the second time, how it should be. I defrag regularlarly (just did last night) and I scan for virii, etc. I have tried crtl-alt-deling everything to see if that helps and it doesnt. I run on the highest resolution (1280x960?) with around 70FPS. Custom models are not the problem becuz once i installed the newest version the models went back to normal, and the problem remained. Ping is not the cause as it takes this long no matter what server i am connecting to. I check my ram using TweakAll before i start and i have about the max i can get (around 65%, max is like 70 or so using tweakall)
If you can help me figure out why my system is so damned laggy after just a few months, I would GREATLY appreciate it. Thank you.

ps: I always use the latest nvidia drivers for my card and run WIN ME.

-=-=-=You can find my system specs in my Profile.=-=-=-

There's always emtpying junk files from your hard drive...like your Temp directory, cookies directory, Temporary Internet Files directory.

As a rule, systems slow down over time. Your computer gets tons of files over time, .dll's, fonts, downloaded internet program files, all sorts of junk that starts to bog them down. Tis why most hardcore gamers who demand top performance format their machines from scratch several times a year.

Thats a fact, I play games on a daily basis and format my harddrives atleast once every 5-6 months.
