I am maybe crazy , but whend i send a file to someone, i upload at 300 to 400 kb/sec for the first 3 or 4 sec.

After that the speeed drop for 18 k/sec.

Anyone know a way to keep it up at 300???

i got the same problem here. dslreports gives me a 212kb down / 107kb upload speed. and then it still says it is only 4 times faster then 56k. thats becouse the line drops back to a max of 15kb/s upload after 2 secs.

whats the max upload of a @home.nl cable?

This high speed you are getting at the begining of an upload is called a burst. Its not a real speed but it happens at the beginning of most uploads and downloads. Usually there is a burst and then the speed drops back to normal. There is no way to keep it up that high especially if there is a cap. The only way to speed up your connection is to tweak it. To do that head over to the tweaking forum and take the tweak test and then post the results.

Happens to me too dude. Even my downloads are like that too. Check your upload speed with a program.

it may be burst, it may even be cache. who knows, but 3.5mbps upload on a personal dsl connection isn't concievable to keep up consistently.

You are talking 300 to 400kbit right?..... then you drop to 18kbyte?

400kbit(kb) = 50kbyte(kB)
144kbit(kb) = 18kbyte(kB)

If you have ADSL then 18kB/sec upload is pretty good. I only average 10kB/second.

Yeah, I hate that BS too, my uploads start at 400KBytes and then drop off to 45Kbytes :(

Guyz, stop confusing everyone !

kilobits is expressed as "kb"
kilobytes is expressed as "KB" (noticed the capital letters)

1000kb = 125KB

The Math Work ...LoL:
1000kb/8 = 125KB

Your getting 400KBytes/s, if your getting that what are you complaining about ? ....LoL I don't think so !!!, your proberly getting 400KBits/s which is normal during peak periods with Sympatico. I have approached them about this problem and they assure me they are working on the "Montreal Speed" problem, because DSL is not suppose to slowdown during peak usage if the network routers are not tied in with dial-up and other net traffics.

It can also be poor QoS control from your isp, but usually the few seconds are simply a false reading by the OS.

1000kb/8 = 125KB small k or capital K is not significant,, what is, is the small b = bits and the Capital B = bytes.
