Hey guys,
I was thinking if I can bring up connection faster, i'm not sure if the setting below mean I have a good connection or bad connection.

TCP options string = 020405b40103030401010402

MTU = 1500
MTU is fully optimized for broadband.

MSS = 1460
Maximum useful data in each packet = 1460, which is equal to MSS.

Default Receive Window (RWIN) = 607360
RWIN Scaling (RFC1323) = 4 bits
Unscaled Receive Window = 37960
RWIN is a multiple of MSS
Other values for RWIN that might work well with your current MTU/MSS:
513920 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 8)
256960 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 4)
128480 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 2)
64240 (MSS x 44)

bandwidth * delay product:
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 24294.4 kbps (3036.8 KBytes/s) @ 200ms
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 9717.76 kbps (1214.72 KBytes/s) @ 500ms

MTU Discovery (RFC1191) = ON

Time to live left = 51 hops
TTL value is ok.

Timestamps (RFC1323) = OFF

Selective Acknowledgements (RFC2018) = ON

IP type of service field (RFC1349)= 00000000

I have installed the win2k patch and then changed the rwin, along with other settings. (saw it in Lobo's help thread)

I have a Athlon 550 Mhz
Windows XP PRO FINAL
@home cable connection
384 MB ram

Can someone advise me what would be optimal setting for my system. Or a good RWIN to set on mine ?

Any help will be greatly appreciated

RWIN To large, try

Bring up Cablenuts adjuster inside Cablenut on desktop the numbers below go in 3 places in W2k and XP, they are: DefaultReceiveWindow, TcpWindowSize, GlobalMaxTcpWindowSize, take out number that is in there and put in one of these, 1 at a time, try: 51100, 487640, 502240, 513920

You do not have to show me but check analyzer here at SG to make sure RWIN is in, you will see number right after (RWIN) on analyzer

At bottom click save to registry, and REBOOT each time you change value in adjuster or it will not work. Click on tools at top of IE, internet options, delete files and offline files (This is safe, temp files) and click on clear history after EVERY test . Quick speed test here (http://speedtest.umnet.umich.edu/)
Speedtest may open another browser, so check taskbar and close other, no other programs should be running, No AIM, ICQ, Virus scanner, Firewall, nothing
Once you find fast number for you, you want to save it, on file at top of adjuster click on that, save custom settings, put RWIN size in as name and click on save, now if you ever want these settins back, click on file, open custom settings file, and click on RWIN number, then click on save to registry at bottom, and REBOOT, your done. How to do real dowwnload test on help thread below in signature. This is all I recommend, if anyone else jumps in with something else, good luck, but it did not come from me:)

The numbers he gave you only apply to your defaultrcvwindow, try them one at a time and see which one works best for you.

Thanks guys for the help,

I boosted my connection from 13 times then a 56k to 36 times faster then a 56k.

Just curious, what results are u guys getting, in terms of how much faster then a 56k.

I made mistake on last RWIN, don't use that, now you have to tweak, put in NIC Buffer tweaks: NEW

InitialLargerBufferCount- 48
InitialMediumBufferCount- 96
InitalSmallBufferCount-150
LargerBufferSize-40960
MaxFastTransmit-2
MediumBufferSize-1805
PriorityBoost-2
SmallBufferCount- 1024

Priority Booost for WIN XP is 10:)

Thats wierd, that last RWIN gave the best result. I added the buffer tweaks already and that gave me an extra boost.
Hmm, i guess i'll keep it since it gave a better result.

Thanks for the help though

Look at MediumBufferSize, it's new so you can't have it yet:) unless????????????

Oh sorry, I though you meant the RWIN. Alright, I'll try new value.

If you are happy with the settings you have now, save them in Cablenuts adjuster, directions in help thread below:)
