View Full Version : The ULTIMATE Tweaking Program!

I just wanted to share with you all the best program that I have found out there. I think it is the best program for tweaking because it is EASY to use and it improved my speeds DRAMATICALLY!:rotfl: I have @home cable and before I downloaded this program I was getting speeds of 900kbps download and 50kbps upload. After I downloaded and installed broadbandwizard I got speeds of 3000kbps download and 128kbps upload! This program is so easy to use! Just download it open it up and then go to optimize and it will automatically detect the best settings for your computer no matter what operating system! Once it finds the right settings you can have it automatically change them for you! Or if your a pro you can enter in values manually! If you want to go back to your original settings you can also do this by pushing default settings and it will change it back to what you had it at! The program is called broadband wizard and you can download it HERE (http://www.broadbandwizard.net/purchase/download_more.html) or type in the following url: http://www.broadbandwizard.net/purchase/download_more.html.
This is an awesome program, the link that I have given you is a trial version which lasts 15 days. No worries though, I used the trial version to change my system settings then I uninstalled the program! The program is taken away, but the system settings stay! If you want to purchase the program it is $19.99 and it has some additional options such as speed test and such which you can explore in the trial version!
Once you have tweaked your settings you can use their speed test, or you could use one of the following links to test your speed:
http://bos.speakeasy.net/
http://www.dslreports.com/stest?loc=1
http://www.dslreports.com/stest?loc=2
http://www.dslreports.com/stest?loc=3
http://bandwidthplace.com/speedtest/
- note for using bandwidth place use test 500 and use do not escape with 8 tests for best results.
http://speedtest.umnet.umich.edu
Hopefully I have been of some help to you and please feel free to post and tell me how much your speed increased!
:D :) ;) :p   :2cool:

just to make sure got the URL it is: http://www.broadbandwizard.net/purchase/download_more.html to download broadbandwizard. The main homepage is at http://www.broadbandwizard.net !
Please do not advertise this BS in this forum, we went through this along time ago, type Broadbandwizard in search function, don't advertise this mess here and yes it is a mess, ya;ll need money?:)
We are way ahead of BroadbandGizard, do not get this mess:)

I am just an average joe that found a program that worked for me! What is wrong with telling other people about it -- because it is sooooo easy to use and it works really GOOD! Sorry for giving some words of wisdom. And oh yeah, you don't have to buy the program for the settings to go into effect! ;) Just uninstall the program once it has optimized your settings-- that is what I DID! Who wants to pay money anyway!

Is there any other program out there that is better than broadband wizard? Is there a program that can tweak upload speed for download speed?
Anything is better than BroadbandGizard, RWIN is not a multiple, MTU 7500 is not real as the highest you can go is 1500, follow directions on help thread below, then post analyzer results along with OS, CPU size and amount of RAM:)
Lobo, it is possiable to get MTU 7500, but you have to be on a T3 line to work the magic. However, I already tried that program, and i can seriouly say that it doesn't do much. It includes a bunch of programs that:
1) Newbies don't understand
2) Already included in Windows for those who want to use it. Therefore, taking up space.
Rwin is not a multiple, so that sucks. User Interface is good, but it doesn't matter when all you want is speed. What settings did you use for BBW?

I went to that test and had the following results -- please help me interperate these results and help me do the proper changes to increase my speed if I can. I especially want higher upload speed if it is possible:
TCP options string = 020405b401010402
MTU = 1500
MTU is fully optimized for broadband.
MSS = 1460
Maximum useful data in each packet = 1460, which is equal to MSS.
Default Receive Window (RWIN) = 59680
RWIN Scaling (RFC1323) = 0 bits
Unscaled Receive Window = 59680
For optimum performance, consider changing RWIN to a multiple of MSS.
Other values for RWIN that might work well with your current MTU/MSS:
513920 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 8)
256960 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 4)
128480 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 2)
64240 (MSS x 44)
bandwidth * delay product:
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 2387.2 kbps (298.4 KBytes/s) @ 200ms
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 954.88 kbps (119.36 KBytes/s) @ 500ms
MTU Discovery (RFC1191) = ON
Time to live left = 54 hops
TTL value is ok.
Timestamps (RFC1323) = OFF
Selective Acknowledgements (RFC2018) = ON
IP type of service field (RFC1349)= 00000000
Those are my results, so what should I do? I have two computers one of them is a Windows 98 SE with Pentium III 600MHZ , 256 Meg Ram, 16 Meg video card. The other computer is a Windows 98 Pentium II 450 MHZ, 256 Meg Ram, 64 Meg video Card. Please help me!
Is Cablenut installed, are SG's patches installed, Is this Cable or DSL, Cablenut will remove Giz:)

This this thing is still around you know it puts settings in that arn't right like the MTU thing of 7500 there is no MTU of 7500 for Ethernet. But if you wanted to waist your money its up to you..
By the way try to get support on that program.
I also tryed this program first hand and it had a error in it that caused the connection to get killed It kept the connection from working not only to the web but to the Network as well when tested on two differnt connetion types.
Good luck with it you may end up in your registry like I did Just a fair sumation on something that can be done for free in about 10 minutes.

Read again, Lobo. I never supported the program, I just said that it is possiable to have MTU of 7500 when you are on a T3. :)

There is a thing called uncapping, where you take the limit your modem is set to for downloading and uploading, and you get rid of it. But were not supposed to talk about that here. Heres a link that explains SpeedGuides oppinion on uncapping http://www.speedguide.net/editorials/uncapping.shtml
Where on patch page does it say T-3:)

I have windows 98 and windows 98 SE operating systems
I retract my Statement. MTU, according to Lobo,Philip, Ed, and Bob(thanks, you guys) are maxed out at 1500, so theoracticly(Bad spelling), BroadbandWizard is a hoax..
When you take analyzer test and it says 256960 after RWIN, try this 600 CPU
For Win 9x bring up Cablenuts adjuster inside icon on desktop in box that says Cablenut, click on adjuster, in box that says DefaultRvcWindow take out number that is in there and put in one of these, 1 at a time, try: 51100, 513920, 522680, 524176
Leave GlobalMaxTcpWindowSize blank
You do not have to show me but check analyzer here at SG to make sure RWIN is in, you will see number right after (RWIN) on analyzer
At bottom click save to registry, and REBOOT each time you change value in adjuster or it will not work.Click on tools at top of IE, internet options, delete files and offline files (This is safe, temp files) and click on clear history after EVERY test Quick speed test here (http://speedtest.umnet.umich.edu/)
Speedtest may open another browser, so check taskbar and close other one, no other programs should be running, No AIM, ICQ, Virus scanner, Firewall, nothing

Once you find fast number for you, you want to save it, on file at top of adjuster click on that, save custom settings, put RWIN size in as name and click on save, now if you ever want these settins back, click on file, open custom settings file, and click on RWIN number, then click on save to registry at bottom, and REBOOT, your done. How to do real dowwnload test on help thread below in signature. This is all I recommend, if anyone else jumps in with something else, good luck, but it did not come from me.

I installed some broadbandwizardpit kit on a computer and have a look after with adjuster. I was badly surprised. There is no much settings in it !!!! I agreed with Lobo, these kit dont worth the trouble it needed to download it !!!!

I find that my settings that I have now from broadband wizard are the best...
RMU- 256960 (Broadband Wizard gave me a multiple, by the way)
Window Scaling- Yes
Time Stamping- No
Selective Acks- Yes
Path MTU Discovery- Yes
Black Hole Detection- No
Max. Duplicate ACKs- 3
MaxMTU- 1500
With these settings I can achieve 3mbps download and 128kbps upload. I tried all of the other things that you recommended and I got slower speeds. What I really need is an increase in my upload speed.

TTL- 64
Speedguides patch puts in RWIN 256660, not the Gizard, if you want to go faster follow above instructions, Cablenut uninstalled the Giz:)

it's nice to see BBwiz worked for someone-it reduced my speed to a fraction of what it started at.Deffinitely thumbs down.

Let him use what he decides to. If it works for him, great, we are not stopping him from doing what he came here to do, which is tweaking connections. If he finds our tweak better, than We will seriouly start telling him to uninstall Broadbandwizard.:)
Read the thread, the "Giz" does not put in RWIN 256960, SG does, Doctor:)
