does anyone recommend to use win2k for gaming cause right now I have a dual boot system with win me and win2k but I like win2k much better then win me but I am not sure about the gaming support for win2k. Does anyone have any suggestions from the people that have win2k installed and play games on it?

I looked over the other thread and I dont think the question was totally answered. I believe the answer lies in your hardware. For win2k to preform to prefection in gaming, I would merely say it might take a little bit more the winME. For example, I have an abit kt7a with a duron800 and a radeon64ddr. When I would play games in win2k pro, they would preform flawlessly. If your setup is barely making the grade in winME, then perhaps you should leave it a dual boot. However, if your setup has strength to spare; then get rid of winME completely. Win2k will play almost every game out there. Plus, it does have better openGL support. However, it will require SLIGHTY more muscle to play games then winME.

If you are EXTREMELY picky about FPS and your 3dmark scores, then winME is for you. However, if all you care about is the game looking perfect; then go with win2k.

Let us know what you decide to do, I'm curious

well thanks for you replies. I think I am gonna go with win2k pro. Cause I have a beefed up system for it. I have a 1.2 athlon and a 40 gig hd and a 20 gig hd. I have geforce2mx 400 w/ 64mb of ram and 384 mb of system memory. Do you think that is good enough for win2k gaming? The game that I am probably gonna play the most is Team Fortress Classic and the regular single player half life. Any recommendations or anything?

Oh, I'm sure that'll be enough!

I love win2k for games. and the Driver upgrade by nvidia recently has totally blurred the difference in performance between win2k and WinME. Now, there is absolutley no difference on a modern hardware machine.

Have fun with the stability and speed. Oh, and definitely get IE6 update. It is awesome.

Windows 2k is the best win os there is for anything. Im still playing with XP, but it looks to be about the same.

Man I am glad I went with this choice. Wink2k Pro rules. It's very stabile and I haven't had it crash once! The games run as smooth as they did with win me and maybe even better because of the nvidia drivers that are new.

If you feel like enhancing the performance on your new 2k OS just say the word and I'll hook you up with some tweak links for 2k :)
