I'm running XP and at least 6 M$ programs want to have web access. Windows Explorer is looking to run as a server...this is all according to what my ZoneAlarm is telling me.

That's scary.

you think so? problem is, i don't have virus software that is compatable with xp right now. i don't think it's out.

i haven't downloaded anything that would have been a virus, just a bunch of .mp3 lately !!!!!

I don't think it's a virus, but you know how I feel about not having any virus protection.:p ZA has done some weird things, like telling you that a program is asking for server rights, when there isn't any need to allow that to happen.

Get yourself some virus protection asap! Norton 2002 should be out now and is for XP.

You can get a virus from downloading MP3's, but I doubt that's what's happening. :D

How? Mp3 files can't hold executable code.

It's either a hidden attachment or something, but I've had 2 instances, my son's have all had at least 3 instances and the last post here, (http://forums.speedguide.net/showthread.php?s=&threadid=49574) from wishiwas has indication of it too. Her son has gotten them in the past from MP3's. How it is actually executed, I have no idea. All I know for sure is that it is possible.
