Dissapointed... (PS2)

Well Ive played GT3 and ATV offroad fury for some time now and I can honestly say the PS2 is a total dissapointment...

GT3's graphics are no dif than GT2's except MAYBE a few fps, and better AA

The cut scenes look exactly like a PS1 and GT2...

I mean did they just put the PS1 in a black box add a lil more of this and that and up the price 300$?

seriously this is so bogus... i didnt just pay 500$ for a PS1 did I?

I also have rented nascar 2002 heat or soemthing and it has graphics like crap... they look PS1 style, the image quality is so horrible in ALL games its ridiculous... I thought the PS2 was supposed to be super nice? WTF? This is lame man I cant believe this crap.. all of you who have bought one have been ripped off...

im gonna try to sell mine and maybe just buy a PS1 again put it in a cardboard box and spray paint it black... oooh and add a black light thingy on the front... wow I have a PS2

Im seriously going to think about selling this PS2 (or is it 1) and get an X-box.

Reason #1 why I stick to PC Games. Just got Madden 02 for PC. Dont see psx2 beating the graphics IMO

Hardly the two games to judge a year-old system by, even if GT3 is popular.

Now, even though I think GT is the most overrated series that's right up there with Tony Hawk (ie, good games that are hardly the BEST thing ever), you MUST admit its FAR better than GT2, even with NO change in AA. :p

Play the two side by side. Trust me, there's a difference.

I admit they're not the best cutscenes I've ever seen, but I HARDLY think they're down at the PSX's crappy level of video compression (ie everything is full of artifacts and runs at 15fps).

PS2= An old abandoned Atari design + the core PSX chips + the new graphics and other chips + dvd drive & decoder + a few extras down the line (except for the HD, which really doesn't have a purpose unlike the XBOX's).

I don't know, did you? And realize, the US PS2 is LESS THAN a year old, the Japanese one is just over a year old. How many STELLAR NES, SNES, Genesis, PSX, Atari games came out within the FIRST YEAR of the system? One, Five? Hardly any huge numbers. But don't worry, down the line, a Mario 3 quality game will come.

You know, if you really think the graphics are THAT crappy, you're starting to give me doubts about YOUR interpretation and evaluation of the system. Granted, Nascar 2000 or whatever isn't going to have anything MIND BLOWING. But to say its "crap" and a "rip off" is a BIT of an overstatement, even if you hate the system.

A little disappointed with the US games so far, but Final Fantasy X has blown me away so far, and I'm sure MGS 2 will do that and more. Hardly Voodoo2 graphics (what would that be, ~Quake 2 and under?), but hardly the best ever.

:nod: I firmly believe that if MS doesn't screw this up somewhere along the way, AND Konami finally CONFIRMS MGS2:X, then the XBOX will reign as king of the "Gamer's Console". But time will tell...
