win xp install/fatal error

Can anybody solve this please.

i had upgraded win me with win xp pro , everything was running smoothly until yesturday. i got the error user profile corupted , i buggered about with it for about an hour with no luck. so i unistalled win xp . back to win me.

tried to reinstall win xp again , but this time i chose let windows check the internet for newer setup files etc. now it won't load win xp . what i think has happened is i have a file(s) that are checking to see if i have got a legit copy of win xp.
can anybody tell me if my guess is correct and where the files are that i need to delete.

Format and do a fresh install, never ever upgrade an OS :)

hm.....you shouldnt have to worry about your OS, since that is what anybody who has XP now is using, and without any problems.....

Try a fresh install, but the upgrade should work fine too..

You may have gotten a corrput file....I haven't gotten any errors like that so far.

I'm just impressed that he posted a message basically stating that 'Hey, I've ripped off Microsoft for their latest OS, but I'm having problems with it, please help'. Pretty funny. I don't think you need to mention the fact that it's a ripped off copy. Ya gotta allow for deniability. :rotfl: :p

hey i did'nt say it was my disk or my pc , for all you or i know someone has got hold of my username and password and is trying to set me up.
