okay here goes both systems runnign winME one 3com and one d-link ipx protocol works fine install win2K on one comp network doesnt work both have ipx prot both have the same workground they just wont see each other. Not running a domain. Please help cause i do want to run win2k on my comp annd my roomate will only run winME.

What is it you are trying to accomplish Do you just want share files and folders or are you trying to share a internet connection. NETBEIU is a good protocol for file and print sharing. And as far as I know as long as it is bound to file and print sharing and all puters are using the same workgroup you should see each puter. TCP/IP is the protocol you use to share the internet connection. As long as the protocols are the same in each comp then windows make no distinction between win9x NT ect. The protocols are the same. Haven't worked much with IPX but I believe it's used by Windows ICS to share a connection. Anyway hope this helps and I am sure others will put there two cents in :)

Are you using a hub,router, or are you connecting both pc's directly via crossover cable?

i'am using a hub i'am going to try netbeiu cause it is installes on windows 2k when you install ipx
