OK, Ive hooked up my Linksys router BEFSR41 4 port, and it seems to be working with the exception of showing up at 10Mbps.
First off, what does this mean. The light is yellow, rather than green so I figure this isnt good. I posted about this a while ago, and was told that sometimes thats all you get, but I was hoping that somehow this could be eliminated.
Can someone explain what the 10Mbps and 100Mbps means and how I can get to 100 if this is better?

Gonna guess you're talking about running only 10 on the built in switch side...which your computer is plugged into.
Make sure you have a 10/100 NIC...not a 10 only NIC. The Linksys built in 4 port 10/100 switch will auto-negotiate to whatever network card is plugged into it. This also happens on the network card side if you have a good 10/100 NIC...it will auto-negotiate also to whatever it can. Now some NIC drivers have a utility which can make it auto-sense, or manually lock down the speed to 10 only or 100 only. Not knowing which NIC you have...can only tell you that much. Also auto-negotiation needs a quality patch cable to obtain full speed. And not sitting there coiled up next to something giving out lots of interference...like TV sets, battery back ups, other AC lines, surge strips, flourescent lights, etc.
Wether or not your LAN is running at 10 or 100 means squat for your internet performance...as only running at 10 is not the bottleneck to the internet, your Cable or DSL speeds are most likely close to 1.0 or 1.5, perhaps 3 or so if you're lucky....5 - 6 at the very best if you're very lucky....but not 10 or higher.

YeOldeStonecat, thanks for the comments. I have a Linksys 10/100 card on one computer and a DLink 10/100 card on the other. Both are registering at 10Mbps.
I was only concerned with my internet performance, so if that is not being slowed by my network guess I shouldnt be concerned.
I have been trying to increase the performance of my internet connection and was thinking this could be the slowdown, but I guess not. I have run all the patches and maximized my setting as per the tweaks and advanced tweak, but feel like things are still moving too slow. Guess I need to take another look at what ive done and redue them one at a time incase something wasnt done correctly - or perhaps im running at top speed now.
Thanks again,

If you do much PC to PC file transfers I would scale up to the 100.
But more importantly make sure that you are at least 10 Mbit Full Duplex.
