My roommate and I just got roadrunner service for our apartment. At first we were just plugging/unplugging eachothers cables to share it, and then finally we got fed up enough to try and figure out some way to network. So, being poor college kids, we bought a $30 eth. hub, hooked our computers up to it, and hooked the cable modem (a 3com, i forget what model) up to his via USB. He's using ME, i'm using 2000- i would have hooked it up to mine, but my USB ports were all occupied and i didn't want to get a hub.
So, anyway, this works great (when he remembers to leave his computer on)- we can both use the web, instant messaging, ICQ, whatever- except the audiogalaxy satellite will not work, and it worked fine when I was connecting to the modem directly. It will say it's connected, but won't send/receive files... I think for some reason the packets it's trying to send me get stuck at my roommate's computer...
any idea on what the cause could be/how to fix it?
thanks,
william
