View Full Version : Tell me there's hope!
Ok, I have a SMC Barricade4-port Broadband modem and is running Bell Sympatico High Speed Edition using the old Nortel modems.
My only question is:
Is there a way to patch my connection so I won't be capped at 15K upload and 75k download.
If so how. Because my router has it's own built-in software that allows me to connect PPPoE.
Thank You

IF your ISP has capped you then you should get used to those speeds. 75k down seems kinda slow though. What speeds do they advertise? Tweaking can help if you aren't getting near your advertised speeds. Realize that since you have a router, some tcp/ip settings may have no effect. You'll have to experiment. My router has a configurable MTU value.

Well they do advertise 960kps/120kps apparently. So I'm not very sure. But my modem has to take some blame

I would use the SG TCP Analyzer and post the results in the tweaking forum. Not really my are of knowledge.

do you mean you download at 75k/s? or your getting 75kbps cuz that is just barely faster then dial up.
Well lets just put it this way
I can only download off irc at 75ks combined and 15ks upload combine. Once I did get 111ks upload so I tried my upload, once I did that my download just shot right back down into 75ks max again
Is that kilobytes(Kbps) or kilobits(kbps) ? if its kilobits then your actually slower than a 56k dial-up connection ! your downloading only @9Kbps
