I just figured out how to get into my Network Properties for Windows XP. But what I'm wondering is... do I have to give it an Internal IP and Subnet Mask just like I did in Windows 98? Here's how you get to it..

This may be old news to you :) Do I have to do that or is that only a Windows 98 problem? Thanks ;)

It is a Windows 95 to 2000 problem. I have not heard of complaints in Windows XP, but this is an interesting item. I will have to find out if Windows XP when set up for PPPoE still looks for a DHCP address. I will find out, may take some time, since it is the weekend.

No problem man. It will be our own little discovery that we can share with XP PPPoE users :D

Thanks.

Yes very true. Since you haven't noticed it, it probably is not an issue. Either way I've sent he question off to my contact and we'll go from there.

Alright, cool.

There is one thing though. I was told it was something else loading or something. When Windows boots up... I have to wait 60 seconds or so to be able to connect to the internet. Nothing will respond for those first 60 seconds. Weird, eh?

Could very well be a DHCP request. Sounds pretty much like one. Give the internal IP a shot reboot and see what happens.

Oh directions, sorry:
In Windows XP
1. Go to Control Panels > Network
2. Highlight the TCP stack for your Ethernet card
3. Click properties
4. In the ip address tab click Specify an ip address
5. Give it an IP that is internal (like 192.168.xxx.xxx)
6. Fill in 255.255.255.0 in the subnet mask field
7. Click "OK"
8. Click "OK"
9. Reboot
;)

It's different. When I choose to do that it opens up other properties below.. DNS Server stuff... It's weird. :(
