Hey I'm wondering what files could I add to the ram drive on a Win98SE system that could speedup net access? Heres what I've got in it so far: NDIS.VXD, PPPMAC.VXD, VTDI.386, VIP.386, VTCP.386, VDHCP.386, VNBT.386, VREDIR.VXD, VUDP.386, MSTCP.DLL, WSOCK.VXD, and WSOCK2.VXD. If anyone knows of other dll or vxds related to the net in anyway plz tell me them :D
Put the files that you want to upload in your ramdrive, then upload it from there. Faster uploads for sure.:)

isn't that irrlevant? I mean, why would putting the files in a ramdrive make a difference, if your still capped at 128k?
and also, is putting those vxd files and stuff in a ramdrive bad? cuz after you reboot, they are all erased, right? or not? i dont know, i've only used a ramdrive for a short period of time.
I've never heard anyone say they got faster uploads with RAM DRIVE, have to ask Crispy about all this:)
Drdoug99- The files in the ramdrive is like a mirrige(sp) file. You enter a .bat file directing the files to ramdrive. You can only go up to the cap, but some people seens to never hit it.
Lobo- Think about it. When you upload, you have to get through your harddrive in order to get to the file. Now, ram runs way faster then a harddrive, you know that, and it can handle workloads more quickly, therefore resulting in faster uploads.
ESC, why is web surfing thing still in your sig when last night you said you got rid of it?:)
What? I don't see no Websurfing Tweaks..:D
Now we don't, but I had camera in user cp and it's all on tape, hehe, lol:)
Oh darn.. I guess I will have to brainwash you then... MUHAHAHAHA!;)

the RAMDISK/RAMDRIVE is useful for almost anything. ya you can put your protocols on it and such, I also like to store cookies and stuff on it cause you can restart and be rid of it.
but tmp files and all of that stuff not a problem works great
I run a few servers on my PC and I use a RAMDISK, it helps me save resources, I have a lot of RAM and I never use all of it. I am not too much into graphic work so I got a lot of fresources that rarely get used. however after I put on a RD everyone thinks I got a new ISP.
it is a lot smoother running and I wish more people could understand how it works, alas only a few of us will acutally take the time to try it
Al you need to step up and be a man on this one, you are always on top of things. Give it a shot and see how it goes, ya may even like it.
You still tryin to use that HP POS? :D
trust me about the RD if you are unsure of using it. I have even been mentioned in the "how to" that Dannjr wrote.

my bad you run a compaq I messed up so you have a Compaq P.O.S.
ya know what that means
and ya know I hate all those lame companies that don't make good machines
I have no complaints, mine works fine, does not matter to me so long as it gets it, no problem here :) :) :) :)
