I am recieving the following two service logs ALOT. Is telephony something I should have left active?

Hey otd
In a simple answer... YES
Start the Main Service and all the dependency services will start...if they don't, then go in and tell the dependent services to start "automatically".
In WIN2K you could "start" some services without re-booting, but to be on the safe side do a reboot and then check your "Event Viewer" to see if all the services were started.
