Are you overclocked at all? One thing I noticed is that I couldnt run stable with agp4x running, however silly that sounds. Try turning it down to agp2x and see what happens. I also couldnt run stable in win2k with 512megs of ram and an acc. ram. Post more about your computer including type of ram etc and I'll try and help you more.
hi onetrueday,i'm not running overclocked and my agp=x2
i checked event log and i keep getting this
"the following boot-start or system start drivers failed to load
CTSYN
that anything to do with it?
i'm not sure what you mean by acc, ram?
this enough specs
thx

CTSYN is a Creative labs file. used for a software synthesizer.
I can't tell you much more than that sorry.
Is your sound capability built in to the mobo? If so, it could be what's wrong and may be why it's beeping when going thru the post routines. And if the sound is shot on the mobo, Windows won't be able to load the driver for it (CTSYN.VXD)
Wish I could help further, but that's all I can tell from what you've posted so far.
Had the same problem with 2k on my A7V mobo, it did it on 98 and ME but no where near as bad as 2k. The bios was junk. Asus's web site blows for updates. Check over at www.a7vtroubleshooting.com maybe they can point you where the latest bios are for your board. Bios updates get posted all the time for asus boards but asus does not update there site.

if u have a 4k page mode option in bios in the spu or ram section try disabling it.

depending on the series of beeps could be the video...reseat the video and the ram and make sure the ram is in the right slot
tnx for replies guys but i had enough and reinstalled 98
i may try w2k again later and dual boot, that should be ok i hope
btw i had 5 devices sharing irq 9 is that normal?
Yep that's normal for windows to stick a bunch of stuff on an IRQ. I've got 9 things stuck on 11. 2K allows you to change IRQ's during install but I'm having a brain fart and can't remember.
