Do you mean for a fresh install on C:\ or a dual boot?

whenever I installed WIn2k, I did it just like you said.
Backup any files, partition your drive how you want to, format the drive, install the OS on the partition you want, and then run windowsupdate, www.windowsupdate.com SP2 is the latest service pack you'll want to get. That's pretty much it.
It will take some getting used to, compared to windows 9x/ME, if that's all you ever used before.
Here's some sites that should help you out.

I am not going to dual boot on my new computer.
Do I need a win2000 start up disk to partition the HD, or I can use win me start up disk? Thanks

I would use either PM or a Win98 boot disk although your Win ME boot disk MIGHT work fine. If you don't have one, you can find one here:

So I can use win98 start-up disk to FDISK, FORMAT, and than use win2000 pro disk to start the installation.

yea, I"d make a win2k boot disk just in case. Thats' what I did as well, forgot to say that.
The way I made the boot disks, (there's 4 in total) is Put the CDROM in my Windows 98 computer, then put the win2k CD in, and it auto-ran, and one of the list of options is to make boot disks. do that, and you should be fine.

Thanks guys, I just look in the win2000pro cd and found the bootdisk folder, and I just make 4 set up boot disk.
My second question is, should I use NTFS or FAT 32 file system. Thanks
I like the NTFS, but some say to leave it fat 32, personnal preference I quess... As long as win 2k is the only os you will use.If you are going to dual boot leave it fat 32

do not update to winXP. ONLY do a clean install. Roaming around BB's you'll find countless people having horrible experiences trying to upgrade to XP.

Fat32 is liked alot better by more programs... if and when you do get 2k/xp I would suggest Fat32..
