Windows Installer

I reinstalled Win 98 on Machine. I attempted to re install Office 2000. I can install disk CD2 but not the disk CD1. An error message keeps poping up saying Windows installer package may not be valid. I tried opening DATA1.MSI on install CD but no luck. Need help big time.

did you get all the latest windows update files for windows 98? the windows installer may be old, and not compatible with the office 2000 installation wizard....i'm not really sure if that's it though or not.

I did check on windows update page could not locate anything recent, but I will check again thanks.

It should work if you fully unistall office RESTART the computer and try installing it again.

i recently had a problem reinstalling mcaffe virusscaner and had to go to m.s. for a new installer.

had a hell of a time finding it , is it just me or is their site about the hardest to navigate through ?
