direct x diagnostic problem?

hello all,i have win98se with the directx8.1interim3.What the heck is going on when i click directx diagnostic under system information it started doing its thing where the box in the lower left hand scans or something ,then boof!my screen went black for a bit then screen come back on showing desktop about 2/3 screen size.I restarted afterwards and everything normal again,but i sure am afraid to use diagnostic tool now!Any ideas what that means?Everything seems ok with my o.s. except sometimes screensaver doesnt kick on unless i manually reactivate it.I ran system file checker,virus check, no problem there.waiting for some pro advice.Oh,by the way,Tweak files.com has been shut down due to cost they say.I will miss that web site.:confused:

hey,i'd a never figured it out,but i guess my power supply was ready to fizzle, because it went kaput couple a days later.not positive but suspect that was the prob.got a 300w as opposed to the deceased 250w and noticeably much better.thanks,anyway,guess thats the end of this thread.
