outlook express 6 keeps detecting new mail from my hotmail aco****, but there is none

I keep getting the new mail notification, but i'm looking through all of my accounts and there's none coming up. it say 22 new messages. I don't know what the deal is. It's going off every time it checks for new mail which is every 2 minutes.
