MTU won't change!

hey guys...im not on cable yet, but its coming in less than a week so im going ahead and getting it setup for it. ive downloaded cablenuts software and all the tweaks on the site and tried all the registry tweaks on the site and the darn MTU will NOT change! everytime i check with the analyzer it says 1472! what am i doing wrong? does windows ME screw this stuff up or what? thanks in advance for any help! ;)

Do you have a ethernet card installed that Winders can pick upr the MTU from and do you have a router, jumping the gun a wee bit:) :)

yea i do have an ethernet card installed. it is an accton 1207d series fast pci ethernet adapter. do i have to actually be connected to the cable internet to change the MTU setting? i will not be using a router. thanks again for any help.

ps - should i get the motorola surfboard 4100 or toshiba 1100(might be the 1000)? any suggestions?

If PMTU is set to 1 in Cablenut's adjuster it is supposed to discover the right MTU, I would wait until you get the cable install and then see what it is, as for modems, everyone likes one better than other, but pretty much all the same:)
