and for some reason i feel more secure........
I'm sharing the net with 2 other pc's using ICS and zone alarm would never show any signs of usage of the net by the other pc's..... Norton however does....
And the problem with norton letting things through and not being secure..... well if you know how to use a firewall that shouldn't be a problem.... I installed it excactly the way i wanted it.....(that means closing down everything except what i wanted to be open)
I have done the leak test and other tests from various sites and no problems...
I have always been a firm supporter of Zone Alarm pro and Tiny (and a firm believer that norton is actually Microsofts evil kid brother.... i know the whole family is evil....), this for me is the first norton product i can seem to trust as long as you don't use the standard settings..... (they totally suck)
anyone have any thoughts about this......
Norton may have come a ways since they intially released their firewall. If your happy with it, who cares what others think. It used to be full of security holes. Keep a close eye on the logs and see if something looks unusual for no apparent reason, if all is well, hey!
I could comment on Norton sucking up resources, but Zone Alarm is a pretty good sucker too! We won't go there. ;)

FLAME! jk.
The only real complaint I have about the Norton Family/Symantec is that you have to format your drive to truely uninstall the software. System Works and AV like to phone home a lot, too. As Blebs99 said - whatever floats you boat. If you like it use it.

I have only used one Norton product and that was CleanSweep and I had to "cleansweep" it off my system, probably due to my own fault but it ain't goin back on.
With the "phoning home" problem, isn't there an option to switch off "LiveUpdate"? From what has been said in the past that is the only phone home option with Norton. Just to get updates to the Norton programs you have. What else would they be interested in?
Your surfing habits? Doubt it.
Your bank details? Well maybe.
Your IP address? Got it already.
What programs you have? No need.
JMHO ;)

A friend of mine has been running it for over six months. While I've had repeated troubles with ZA and ZA pro, he's run NFW trouble free on three very differant computers. He loves the features you can add and how you can turn those features on and off. NFW even runs fine on his pent233 computer, without slowing it down. If it wasnt so expensive, I would consider buying it myself.

Well if I were you I would *wink wink* pay the HUGE amount of money *wink wink* and BUY *wink wink* the software.......
But that is IF I were YOU..... and since you are not me and I am not you.... well then it's quite evident that I cannot be you and you certainly cannot be me.... thus being you is not a possibility for me whereas it is not a possibility for you to be me....
confused yet???? well I am

norton also can block those referrer things that tell websites where you've been, and that autoblock thing is a pretty ingenious way of stopping scans.
