Tweakguide for gaming please

Now when the initial chock has ceased I´ve started to think about the usual stuff - gaming.
I´ve read speedguides tweakpages and probably not understood it all so I wonder if the tw3aks presented on this (http://www.speedguide.net/Cable_modems/cable_patches.shtml/) page are the best for online gaming as well?The tweaks seems to be made for something else.

Unfortunately tweeking will do nothing for online games that utilize UDP packets suck as Battlenet

I play CS and I don´t know what you´re talking about.UDP-packets?Do you know how i can get better knowledge of this?
