Linksys BEFSR41 Router & IRC/ICQ etc.

Hi there,

I have the above mentioned router and it had been working great since we got it except for the past few weeks.

The past few weeks I have been unable to DCC (send/receive) on IRC and when I send a message to someone via ICQ I have to send it thru the server.

Now, I don't understand why this is because this computer which is having this problem is DMZ so I assume that all ports are open, so I can't understand why I'm having these problems.

Anyway, I called Linksys tech support and waiting 30 minutes on hold they told me to install the newest firmware, which I did and this did not fix it.

I then called tonight and waited another half an hour, and when I finally got to speak to someone they told me to speak up as they couldn't hear me, after practically yelling and them still not hearing me I hung up.

So I thought I'd try here and see if someone more knowledgeable (which I'm sure their are 100's of you that are more knowledgeable than their staff) than the idiots at Linksys.

I really hope I can get this back working so I can DCC in IRC and send messages via ICQ normally once again.

FYI I haven't changed any options at all from when I first installed it when it was working so good.

With irc forward port 113 to that computer.

dont know how to help you with icq or anyhting else. best i can say is put your puter in DMZ mode.. but that takes down the security of a hardware firewall.

Like I mentioned in the message, this computer is DMZ so their shouldn't be any problems.

Hopefully someone else can come up with some other ideas.
