When I go to Network, double click on TCP/IP-> Network Everywhere Fast Ethernet Adapter [NIC 100 V2] brings up TCP/IP Properties... All files, Bindings, Advanced, NetBIOS, DNS Confirmation, Gateway, Wins Configuration and IP Address are blank.

People keep telling me to rebuild the TCP/IP stack? I have none to rebuild.

Anyone have an answer?
:confused:

Network Properties.....your components....you'll have Client/Adapters/Protocols/Services.

You'll find TCP/IP bound to your network card, and often dial up adaters.

Remove the TCP/IP bound to your network card.
Reboot
Go back, and add==>protocol==>Microsoft==>TCP/IP.
Reboot

Proceed from there.

OK... I did as u said above, BUT.... after I rebooted it said insert the NIC disk. This is called installing NCI drivers. I have done all this before. [no help] The TCP/IP properties files are still blank. But what I'm saying for my system that is "normal". There is no "stack" for me to load for I don't have or need that information.

DHCP is part of the tcp/ip family of protocols. No TCP/IP means no DHCP. You have to have either a static or dynamic ip address to connect to the internet. If you ise DHCP, you machine requests an ip address, default gateway, etc,etc from the DHCP server at your isp. THat is probably why the settings are blank. You definitely need TCP/IP installed, tho.

Skye, You are correct.. I have never put in an IP address or antthing else like that. I did a self install and it wasn't requested.

I'm still LOST. :confused: Why do I need to install TCP/IP other than the one I have?
And how would I do that?

My cable server has confessed, after 10 days that there seems to be a problem on their part.
Thanks again!

Guess misread....you said 'Blank'...I was assuming you mean the TCP properties page was blank...as in not able to modify the info. I've seen it be corrupted that way before, combined with you mentioning to reload your TCP stack....that was what I was referring to. Now I see you meant your configuration was left "blank"...really meaning "Obtain Auto".

you're set up using dhcp, so therefore you won't see the seetings unless you go into the IP Configuration. As for rebuilding the stack it means removing and then readding the tcp/ip bound to your NIC. Some call rebuilding the stack removing and reinstalling your Nic whi will also rebuild the tcp/ip for your NIC
