Hello. My school installed a wireless LAN. They made us buy laptops. Now that we are starting to use them I am pissed off. Today was the first day we used them. Throughout all of day people were using Kazaa and AIM (despite it is not very bandwidth intensive). Our school got a call from thier ISP in seatlle telling them they could not even telenet in to fix problems, the T1 was in full use. Since they looked at the bandwidth at 4:30 pm I was by some chance downloading gamespy arcade. They probally saw me and told me stop doing that. I did not say anything but I thought what the hell we cant download stuff, that makes no logical sense. What about people using tons of upload speed. I just don't get it. Someone please help me find some way to control the amount of bandwidth my comp uses. I am running a computer with win98. I tried looking for info on limiting bandwidth but it was all server side info. Why cant our school get some bandwidth limiting software. I need help. Thanks.

Well, I guess you could tweak your computer like everyone else on here does, except go for the slowest configuration you can find, instead of the opposite, which everyone else wants. Personally, if the school is having that much trouble, I think they should upgrade their pipe. T1 isn't that big for a whole school, especially if all the students have computers.
