help!! im on DSL in TX swbell.net and all the network status looks good but about 2 days ago i couldnt check my email i keep getting :
The connection to the server has failed. Account: 'mail.swbell.net', Server: 'mail.swbell.net', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10061, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E
so i check microsoft knowledge base and tryed a little testing basically something is blocking my port 110. i have checked advanced tcp/ip properties and i am allowing port 110 25 and 80 all tohers are blocked. all udp ports are open. there is no firewall or ?? anything that should be blocking this. i am connected using a speedstream 5660 in bridge mode. it has been fine for almost 2 years now and now this any ideas. i can ping my email servers and can ping myself just cant ping my ip @:110 what gives? this happened out of the blue no downloads no new software anything. i have patched and udated all known patches from microsoft long before this happened.
i tried deleting the tcp/ip protocol on the network adaptor and letting it reinstall i have tried making a new email acct under the same identity in outlook express i dunno anybody been thru this before? i really dont wanna reinstall windows.
i can connect and do all other things just seems like no port 110 is there anyway to check this or by pass it or check to see if it is being blocked from outside? is that possible i been on irc recently and dunno if someone is dinking with my IP(static) or not. i have a free bsd machine setup im gonna use a firewall just havent been real motorvated to get it all configured and connected. ihave a full on home network(switch etc) here but im just connected via the router(speedstream) right now to my single pc.
thanks in advance if anyone wants to try and help me work this out. i am no specialist here but i have a general grasp of whats going on just help me fill in the blanks and maybe we can fix it.
