View Full Version : Trojan Hunter
I was wondering if anyone used this program and if so what do you think of it? I currently am using "The cleaner", and while it seems to do fine the updates seem slow in coming. How does the first program "Trojan Hunter" compare with the Cleaner? Also should both be used?
I asked the same question a few threads down and never did get any replies! :(
Hello blebs,
thanks for the quick reply. I was not aware that you had already asked this question and did not get any responses. I decided to download the new release. I can always format if I have to. I run the program and it found on trojan on my computer that "The cleaner" was missing. By the way I use dial up. So I will try this 30 day trial and if there is any problems let everyone know. Here is a link to the site should anyone else want to try it.

What Trojan did this proggie find?
Are you sure it's not a false claim?
Hello Norm,
I don't remember the name although it did give one. As to the possibility of being a false claim, I would not know how to tell. I am not that good on the computer. I don't even know how to pull the file up on the program to look at to see the name of the trojan it stoped. Sorry I can not better answer your question.
np, sometimes these scanners will tell us of Trojans because of the way we configure them, or because of bugs, but not all instances are real so you need to know your system fairly well to know when it's a false claim.
Next time it catches a trojan, record the name, and post it here. Someone may be able to let you know if it's real, or false.
We all started somewhere saved, and we continue to learn from each other.
Glad to have you here posting with us :)
Saved: There is a strong chance that what it reported is a false positive. The people who wrote the program are still trying to get things corrected and would appreciate any feedback that you can give them. I realize that your somewhat new to this stuff, but if you could send them a copy of the Trojan that logged, it might help them to correct the errors. There isn't very much that gets past "The Cleaner" so I really don't think what it found is really a Trojan, but you never know anymore. ;)
Well it did it again. I copied the name and it is called Trojan cow 100. I have posted the problem with those who made the program and I am waiting for an answer.
Hopefully they will get back to you soon. I'm just uneasy about it, because like I said, not very much gets past the Cleaner!:)
This is an update on this trojan hunter program. The original warning was an error in the program and is now corrected. I will say that the program writer took a lot of time with me to find the problem and correct it. If anyone is interested in the program it can be downloaded here. http://www.mischel.dhs.org:8080/products/TrojanHunter200.exe
It is not free, but does come with a 30 day trial period.
Thanks for the update!
How do you like the program thus far?
Hello blebs99,
I like it. It seems to have more features then the Cleaner. I don't know if I am going to buy it after the 30 days. I have so much security already that I am not sure I need another, but it seems to be a good program just the same.
I had to ask. I tried the cleaner on this thing. I have Go Back on here to, and when running the cleaner, it stops dead in its tracks at Go Back. I've tried everything imaginable to get the cleaner not to try to scan the Go Back portion of the drive, but there are so many file entries for the GB program, that I gave up on trying with the cleaner and went with TAUSCAN and ANTI-TROJAN instead.
I think I might just give trojan hunter a shot, but not until I make sure that this recent install of IE 6 and OE 6 is going to work out fine!
I've got a nasty habit of downloading and installing all sorts of things at the same time, and when something gives me a problem, I don't know where it originated. :D
