View Full Version : Opinions on this router
What do you guys/gals think of this router. It will be used to share a cable connection with two to four computer. Will it be a good gaming router?
Is this router as robust as the netgear rt314?
Thanks in advance.

Awesome...owned one for about 6 months....have also installed around a dozen. Fast and stable....much more so that the Linksys, although not as "newbie user friendly" as the Linky.
Only glitch I've seen is their firmware still has issues hosting game server behind the router that run on the Unreal Tournament engine.....random WAN client booting problem.
Never had a proble with my netgear router till I wanted to run a website. The router has never given me any problems. Do your self a favor now! get an rs232 cable. You will need it for updating firmware and resetting the software incase you forget your password. Yes you can do it ftp but its a real pain in the A. Netgears help and docs really suck but its a stable router!

I find the old FTP easier than the serial hyperterm.....their PDF file gives a good step by step detail on how to upgrade via FTP.
I've dealt with 3COM routers before...although I love their Superstack and Office class hubs/switches, and external modems....I'm not crazy about their gateway routers....and they're about to drop them all, if not already.
