Ok I am new to this board and wish to ask for your help. My road runner is running VERY slow compared to other cables and other road runner user. Most people I have asked have hit over 1mbps on their downloads and I have NEVER came near there. My maximum speed is 250 kilobytes/sec, and I never come near it on the average. I have already called road runner and they have been no help to me. I was wondering if you could help me find something that would help me speed up my snail connection.
Please click in my signature where it says Test tweak here, then:

MSS = 1460
Maximum useful data in each packet = 1460, which is equal to MSS.
Default Receive Window (RWIN) = 8760
RWIN Scaling (RFC1323) = 0 bits
Unscaled Receive Window = 8760
RWIN is a multiple of MSS
Other values for RWIN that might work well with your current MTU/MSS:

Your RcvWindow limits you to: 140.16 kbps (17.52 KBytes/s) @ 500ms
Consider increasing your RWIN value to optimize TCP/IP for broadband.

Click on Help Thread & Tips below in signature and read, please leave your OS and system specs if you have not done so. Also if you have Cablenuts adjuster installed I need to know that. Take analyzer after you install speed patch an post results so I can see if patch is in. In my signature, Click on Test Tweak Here, Thank you and good luck.
How to post TCP/IP Test:

Oh, and sys specs are 512 mb ram, 1.4ghz athlon, WIN 98 SE
Install Cablenut first, then our patchs, read how to install on patch page, MSS is fine:)

My connection is only going 50kbps for me and is only 19 times faster than a modem, I think those results really SUCK, comparing to what I saw on other peoples'. Please how do I fix this??
Start over, uninstall Cablenut, then rerun it, no ccs file, then re-run our patches:)

It hasn't made even the slightest diffrence in my results, I don't think cablenut is even in my registry. When I hit retrieve registry it opens something with everything blank.

Is there anyway to increase my recieve window to its maximum capacity and have it get a 1mbps like everyone else? This speed depresses me.
Is Cablenut on your desktop:)

It sure is
For Win 9x bring up Cablenuts adjuster inside icon on desktop in box that says Cablenut, click on adjuster, in box that says DefaultRvcWindow take out number that is in there and put in one of these, 1 at a time, try:531440, 554800, 560640, 578160
Leave GlobalMaxTcpWindowSize blank
You do not have to show me but check analyzer here at SG to make sure RWIN is in, you will see number right after (RWIN) on analyzer
At bottom click save to registry, and REBOOT each time you change value in adjuster or it will not work. Fast speed test here (http://speedtest.umnet.umich.edu/)
Speedtest may open another browser, so check taskbar and close other one:) :)
Make sure there is a 1 in box on adjuster that says Tcp1323Opts, save at bottom and reboot

I REALLY appreciated your help, thanks, I guess Road Runner was just meant to be slow and gay, but you did your best and I appreciate it.

It is not on your end when it comes to Road Runner they have admitted server problems due to the Sircam virus for the last 2 weeks, the only thing you can do is wait it out.
