i have BellSouth ADSL, Windows 2000, T-Bird 1.1ghz, 384 MB Ram, and a 3Com HomeConnect PCI ADSL modem. i called BellSouth and they said my connection was PPPoA. can u help me tweak my connection? i have installed Cablenut 4.02b4, but have not applied any .ccs files. what should be my next step?

TCP options string = 020405b401010402

MTU = 1500
MTU is fully optimized for broadband.

MSS = 1460
Maximum useful data in each packet = 1460, which is equal to MSS.

Default Receive Window (RWIN) = 17520
RWIN Scaling (RFC1323) = 0 bits
Unscaled Receive Window = 17520
RWIN is a multiple of MSS
Other values for RWIN that might work well with your current MTU/MSS:
513920 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 8)
256960 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 4)
128480 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 2)
64240 (MSS x 44)

bandwidth * delay product:
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 700.8 kbps (87.6 KBytes/s) @ 200ms
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 280.32 kbps (35.04 KBytes/s) @ 500ms
Consider increasing your RWIN value to optimize TCP/IP for broadband.

MTU Discovery (RFC1191) = ON

Time to live left = 114 hops
TTL value is ok.

Timestamps (RFC1323) = OFF

Selective Acknowledgements (RFC2018) = ON

IP type of service field (RFC1349)= 00000000

Follow diresctions on help thread below in signature, do not download Cablenut again:)

You are not PPPoE with MTU of 1500:)

You want this speed patch: sguide_tweak_2k.zip

Lobo which .ccs file should i use, the fast dsl one has a TcpWindowSize of 37752 and that is not a multiple of my MSS (1460)?

I don't use multiple either, try it:)

But with ADSL, MTU 1500, you should click on fast cable, RWIN 64240:)

after sguide tweak 2k:
is there anything i can do to get better speeds?

Test running..Downloaded 60900bytes in 821ms
Downloaded 696000bytes in 4517ms
First guess is 1232kbps
fairly fast line - now test 2mb
Downloaded 1679100bytes in 10825ms
Upload test not enabled

** Speed 1240(down)/na **
(At least 24 times faster than a 56k modem)
Finish.

Bring up Cablenuts adjuster inside Cablenut on desktop the numbers below go in 3 places in W2k and XP, they are: DefaultReceiveWindow, TcpWindowSize, GlobalMaxTcpWindowSize, take out number that is in there and put in one of these, 1 at a time, try: 64240 or 128400

You do not have to show me but check analyzer here at SG to make sure RWIN is in, you will see number right after (RWIN) on analyzer

At bottom click save to registry, and REBOOT each time you change value in adjuster or it will not work. Fast speed test here (http://speedtest.umnet.umich.edu/)
Speedtest may open another browser, so check taskbar and close other:)
