Need help with half-life...

Okay, I'm a TOTAL Halflife newbie here... Yes, I haven't played it yet.

Thing is, I install it, run it, enter the CD-key, and the proggy crashes. No matter what I do, I've tried with and without update, I can't get it to run... is it Win2k?

I have Win2k on an Asus A7V-E, 256 MB Ram, 32 MB Elsa Gladiac GF2MX, SB live 5.1, 40 GB WDD HDD, Win2k and DirectX 8.0.

Can anyone help me to get this game to run?

Sp2 installed?

Did you install it from one account and try to run it from a dif account?

No Service Pack installed... I installed SP1 once and then had to reformat, since then I haven't tried it again...

I installed & tried to run it from the same account (it has admin rights)...

Hmm as I remember there have been some issues with HL and SP1, try upgrading to SP2 and run it again.
