#1: when i try to restart my puter, everything is normal, the screen goes black but then nothing happens - it never comes back on. it's not shutting-down though because the power light for cpu stays on and fans are running. i have to turn it off with the power button and then turn it back on. the same thing happens when i try to shutdown. the screen goes black but the power light stays on and it never actually shuts off. also, when i try to turn it off with the power button, just pushing it doesn't turn it off either. i have to push the button in and hold it for like 5 or 6 seconds and then it finally shuts off. i don't guess it's a real big deal but it is terribly aggrivating.

#2: i haven't had w2k for long <about a month>. it seems real slow. i got a 1.2 GHz t-bird with 512MB sdram - just seems it should be pretty fast. i noticed that when i hit ctrl+alt+del and go to task manager - i have like 34 processes running. i was wondering if this is slowing me down. i'm not sure what all of that stuff i actually need running.

That part is normal for more recent PC's.

But the other problem's are not normal.
You may want to try a reinstall if no one has an answer. Or get the SP2 update for it and se if that helps.
Keep in mind, This Thread (http://forums.speedguide.net/showthread.php?s=&threadid=44680) if you go for the updates.

I think that win2k requires more updates and tweaks to be fast then win98se. After you finish tweaking it though, it is faster and much more stable.

would reinstalling w2k be just like reinstalling w98se. i reinstalled w98se a bunch of times. w2k is soo different though. i guess i would just put the cd in and run setup and it will overlay on top of my current installation and i won't loose anything.
anybody got an idea of where i can find a list of all the w2k STUFF that i need to let run and which processes on this list could maybe be disabled.

Id ont know why you would have 34 services running  Id check to see what youve installed that is starting at boot etc..

Also ive used 2K for a long time and even a freh install with no "tweaking" or service packs it was triple win 9x in performance...

I think you may have a problem some where else..
