IS there anyway to use the USB connection function with just WIN 98 (i..e. No Win 98 se)..... I have a Motorola Sb 4100 andthe usb function works with just the basic Win98,,,,Why does Toshiba require Win98se or higher for USB support?

basically the USB drivers for that and ALL direct connect USB modems suck..................if you are lucky in might put in the right driver in 10 seconds...........................if not you will go back and forth between usb root hub and usb composite device for hours before windows detects the USB modem

do not use the direct connect usb they suck

as to why you need SE it is again cause those drivers suck and they need all the help they can get 98 SE is suppost to have better usb capabilities, but nothing can overcome how bad those drivers suck

if you do try to use the direct connect usb all i can say is have fun with all that:eek:

Ditch the USB, use a NIC. It is potentially faster, easier to network, uses less resources, and is more reliable.
