View Full Version : help tweaking Flashget
just wanted to know if there were optimal settings I should use when using FlashGet.
Win2000 SP2
IE 5.5 SP2
FlashGet .95
D-Link DFE-530TX Ethernet
Verizon DSL
specifically in the connedcion Tab.
Time out
connection : 600
data : 600
Retry delay : 2
I was using these settings when I was still on 56k. I was wondering which I should change (if there are others as well) to accomodate my DSL connection (on a LAN).
Thanks!
Please click in my signature where it says Test your tweak here, then:
At top where it says edit click and select, Select all,
Then go back to same edit button at top, click and select copy.
Come back to Speedguide, same thread you were on, in post reply box, with cursor blinking at begining of box go to top, edit, click, select paste, click, this will put information in box. Please X out your IP address, Thank you.
TCP properties for IP = 138.89.xx.xx ()
Note: Read the FAQ if the above is not your IP address.
Browser/OS = Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 5.5; Windows NT 5.0)
TCP options string = 020405ac0103030201010402
MTU = 1492
MTU seems to be optimized for PPPoE... If you are not on a PPPoE connection, consider increasing your MTU to 1500 for optimal throughput.
MSS = 1452
Maximum useful data in each packet = 1452, which is equal to MSS.
MSS is optimized for PPPoE. If you are not on a PPPoE connection, consider increasing your MTU value.
Default Receive Window (RWIN) = 256960
RWIN Scaling (RFC1323) = 2 bits
Unscaled Receive Window = 64240
For optimum performance, consider changing RWIN to a multiple of MSS.
Other values for RWIN that might work well with your current MTU/MSS:
511104 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 8)
255552 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 4)
127776 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 2)
63888 (MSS x 44)
bandwidth * delay product:
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 10278.4 kbps (1284.8 KBytes/s) @ 200ms
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 4111.36 kbps (513.92 KBytes/s) @ 500ms
MTU Discovery (RFC1191) = ON
Time to live left = 49 hops
TTL value is ok.
Timestamps (RFC1323) = OFF
Selective Acknowledgements (RFC2018) = ON
IP type of service field (RFC1349)= 00000000
8922 connections tested since 03.10.2001.

Are you on PPPoE, do you log on with name and password to get on net
PPPoE you have to log on with name and password.
PPPoE ( Point-to-Point Protocol over Ethernet ) is a method for building PPP sessions and encapsulating packets, as described in RFC2516. Although it is not a standard, PPPoE is already being used by a number of DSL providers. It requires either routers that have built-in PPPoE support, or PPPoE software to "dial up" and establish the session.
:) :)
Lobo.
thanks for the effort.
No, I'm not on PPPoE. I'm on a LAN, so I don't have to login for the connection.
Then why do you have PPPoE MTU?:)
If your not on PPPoE MTU needs to be 1500:D :D :D
hmmm...jusdt went through the registry.
heres the value i have for the MTU.
------------------------
MTU REG_Word 0x000005dc(1500)
------------------------
that is at 1500 right?
the tweak test reports it at 1492.
I already installed the Tweak reg file as well.
thanks.
Call your provider and find out what MTU should be:confused:
