Alright.
This is what i did i downloaded cable nut read the readme went ot css file applied the setting rebooted.
then tested the tcp ip thign from speedguide and this is what i got.
TCP options string = 020405b401010402010303000101080a003b649500000000

MTU = 1500
MTU is fully optimized for broadband.

MSS = 1460
Maximum useful data in each packet = 1448, which is less than MSS because of Timestamps, or other TCP/IP options used.

Default Receive Window (RWIN) = 8760
RWIN Scaling (RFC1323) = 0 bits
Unscaled Receive Window = 8760
RWIN is a multiple of MSS
Other values for RWIN that might work well with your current MTU/MSS:
513920 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 8)
256960 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 4)
128480 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 2)
64240 (MSS x 44)

bandwidth * delay product:
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 350.4 kbps (43.8 KBytes/s) @ 200ms
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 140.16 kbps (17.52 KBytes/s) @ 500ms
Consider increasing your RWIN value to optimize TCP/IP for broadband.

MTU Discovery (RFC1191) = ON

Time to live left = 56 hops
TTL value is ok.

Timestamps (RFC1323) = ON
Note: Timestamps add 12 bytes to the TCP header of each packet, reducing the space available for useful data.

Selective Acknowledgements (RFC2018) = ON

IP type of service field (RFC1349)= 00000000

NOW IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE I NEED TO DO OR DOWNLOAD TO HELP OUT MY CABLE MODEM

How do you connect to the internet?

Do you have to enter a username and password? If you do then you are connecting thru PPPoE and you must change your MTU to 1492. If not then you are in business.

Now, open up Cablenut's adjuster and in the entry box next to where it reads "DefaultRcvWindow" type in 64240. Then click the "save to registry" button at the bottom then exit and restart your cpu. Many people using cable swear by this RWIN.

Hope this helps.

Nero.

ccs file is not installed:

How to install Cablenut Software

This will also install Cablenut on your desktop, click on this and RIGHT click on adjuster, click on shortcut to desktop, this will put it on your desktop. Click on adjuster and to be sure to click on options at top, choose operating system and make sure you have selected right one, very important. OK, close out of that.
Next, inside Cablenut on desktop click on that, then ccs (Cablenut Custom Settings) select which type of connection you have, 56K, PPPoE or DSL, or Cable. Then select the setting you think best for your connection. 9x means Win 95/98/SE/ME, 2k would be Win 2000 and XP. Fast or normal, depends on you, try both and see which one you like best, just go back to top of adjuster click on file and select the ccs setting you like best, click on save to registry at bottom and REBOOT.
This will enter some values in adjuster, blank boxes only mean that default value is being used, click on save to registry at bottom (Do this anytime you change a value in adjuster and REBOOT or it will not work.

Note: Check back often for updates and new patches
Also on 2nd page of help page in my signature it tells you how to save your setting's. Installing Cablenut Software will remove any prior patches:)
