I have Verizon DSL and I know most people don't like its services. I was wondering if I could tweak my connection in any way. I have tried the SG patches but they don't help much and I've also tried Lobo's tweak but not much help either. So anyone know anything that might help. I have a P3 600 Mhz with WinME, and 256 Mb Ram. My connection is capped at 768kbps down/128kbps up and I'm d/l at like 50kbps and up but never over 100kbps. Should I be getting more then what I'm paying for this service?:confused:

Heres the TCP/IP Analyzer results:

TCP options string = 020405b401010402

MTU = 1500
MTU is fully optimized for broadband.

MSS = 1460
Maximum useful data in each packet = 1460, which is equal to MSS.

Default Receive Window (RWIN) = 17520
RWIN Scaling (RFC1323) = 0 bits
Unscaled Receive Window = 17520
RWIN is a multiple of MSS
Other values for RWIN that might work well with your current MTU/MSS:
513920 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 8)
256960 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 4)
128480 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 2)
64240 (MSS x 44)

bandwidth * delay product:
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 700.8 kbps (87.6 KBytes/s) @ 200ms
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 280.32 kbps (35.04 KBytes/s) @ 500ms
Consider increasing your RWIN value to optimize TCP/IP for broadband.

MTU Discovery (RFC1191) = ON

Time to live left = 117 hops
TTL value is ok.

Timestamps (RFC1323) = OFF

Selective Acknowledgements (RFC2018) = ON

IP type of service field (RFC1349)= 00000000

You have a default registry:) Well very close to default, no speed patch installed:)

yes i know i have a default registry or almost but what tweaks can I use to boost my speed over 100kbps and make stay ovefr 100kbps.

Try Speedguide's but downloading and unzipping does not install, go to where you unzipped patch too and RIGHT click on it, up to install or merge, reboot retest:)

Hi Optimus!

Change your RWIn and I'm sure you will notice the increase in your download speed. Lobo here will guide you to the right direction. Patience is the key ;)

Optimus Prime, try Cablenuts fast settings in his ccs files, see if that is any better, if not leave fast settings in and just change RWIN to 64240, I know but, OK also try RWIN's of 470120, 481800 or 487640

Hey Optimus. You and I have almost the exact same cpu/isp. :)

Verizon's software uses PPPoE to access the internet. Max MTU for a PPPoE connection is 1492 and an MSS of 1452. That is the first thing that needs to be corrected.

I am assuming (and we all know what happens when you do that, right?) that you have Cablenut's adjuster or DrTCP installed, no? If you do, then it should be straight forward from there.

Next, I would experiment a little with RWIN settings and see which number works best for you. I get best results using a RWIN of 11616, and my system is very comparable to yours so give that one a shot first. If you choose to try a number higher than 65535, and you are using Cablenut then make sure you set windows scaling on by adding a "1" in the box by "Tcp13230pts". If you are using DrTcp you don't have to worry about it as it automatically turns scaling on.

Well, hope this helps.

hey Ner0 I don't have PPPoE. I know I don't have PPPoE becuz I never have to log in unless it logs in really fast that I don't see it. I don't know why but maybe becuz I got my DSL before GTE changed to Verizon. Where can I get DrTCP from.

Right here (http://www.dslreports.com/front/drtcp.html) :)
