10 mins to cut & paste 430Mb ????

I dont suppose anyone knows why its taking so long to move 400Mb file from one partition to another. Im running 2k with ntfs, both service packs, the latest VIA 4 in ones and I have ultra DMA enabled etc etc..........something must be a miss, but what?

Are the NICs configured to run at 100Mbit? They might be set at 10Mbit.

Prey he wasnt going across the network.. he was going from say drive C to drive D. Just a different partition. and Ya it might take that long.. the little reading arm has to go back and forth a lot of times to collect info, write it to new partition, collect, write, collect, write, etc...

Takes lots of time..
