Hi,
I was called to a company who had just got an ISDN line in for some net access. The problem? It can barely download at 0.5kb/sec while connected at 128k.

The terminal adapter they have seems to be crappy, and I can't figure out how to get it to connect at 64k. I beleive it could be something to do with the drivers in NT4 (the pc it's connected to). The TA is an external serial, so thus limited to 115k, but they'd be happy to see it downloading at anything faster. ;)

Pings seem higher than with other ISDN lines I've used, with around 60ms to the ISP. Also there seems to be some packet loss; around 10% when going 100 pings to the ISP.

I've proposed that they get a decent ISDN router (Eicon make a fairly cheap one that would seem to suit), or at least an internal isdn TA.

Would anyone have any ideas why the current setup is so bad? One of the people says that the TA works fine at his home isdn line and pc (running win98). I'm planning to try connecting the TA to my laptop (running win XP), and see if it makes any different.

BTW, cable/dsl, e.t.c. is not an option where they're located.

I don't beleive the ISDN line itself is at fault, cause I beleived that if there was 'noise' that it wouldn't connect at all?

Thanks.
