Do you kiss your Mother with that mouth, because your provider flaked out on you, you want to blame tweaks thats thousands of people use, do tell, I believe you jumped the gun, let me write down you name, OK, good day:) :)

I will bare witness, for last I checked :D I am running Win2K Pro. Yes, I have used the Speedguide tweaks and they worked wonderfully. I then have been directed to use Cablenut's fine software and it has pleased myself with my connection even more! Are you sure it's not the user? You know a computer will only do what the user tells it to. So how about before you start accusing people of "***king up your computer" you re-evaluate your PC. You said that you reinstalled Win2K and it still won't connect.. well hmmm.. that sounds like it's messed up to begin with. Call your ISP first and let them do their job and get you connected. ALSO, read more info when putting a patch onto your system. You could've added them in manually and then you'd know each and every step that was taken. So just lay off on bashing people and use your brain to work on figuring out what your problem is. Have a nice ****** (joyful) day. :D:D

After reading the above I just want to ask if I should take any precausions with installing the Win2k patch?
What should I do to avoid any problems?

the patches work just fine...............
Think about it M711 you reinstalled 2K. And you still think it was the patches. Right and you smoke what ????? Obviously somethin pretty strong cause these patches work just fine. I run 2K and I have never had a problem in the slightest bit from any of the tweaks I have gotten from SG or Cablenut. I would promote them with my dying breath.
How did you dl the back to default patch if you couldn't get online?
The patches have nothing to do with your modem. They only help your system better it's performance.
To any of our other readers of this post. Pay no attention to the FOOL who is trying to give SG a bad rep. If the tweaks messed stuff up they wouldn't put em out.

I agree with Lance 100% :)

ClayM711, did you try recycling your cable modem? Before you installed the SG tweaks, did you back-up your registry? You were suppose to. I know several people with Win2000 that have used these tweaks and all had no problems. I think you are venting frustration in the wrong direction.
whoa now ClayM711, lets not get all up in arms, lets try to post maturely and not curse the whole world out, ok?
SG is a little be slower on the Weekends then it is during the week, so responses to threads may be a little bit slower, this is just how things go....
The SG tweaks work fine, I use them, and other people use them just fine. I would be let to think that perhaps it is a configuration problem on your end with Win2k, perhaps you do not have a setting that is correct, or perhaps your cable internet is even down, very possible, might want to call your ISP and make sure everything is working good, if it is then check out your Win2k networking settings, make sure everything is set right.
hi all,
I am new to tweaking and so I downloaded the 2k patches to install. Before installing the patches i did an export of my registry. Now however I have problems booting up my win2k adv server pc with my DSL connection. I don't know what's wrong. I tried installing the defaults. I couldn't import my backup!! Please help me...
Put 98 Boot or start disk in, at DOS prompt type scanreg /restore
Space between g & / Click enter key
Use arrow keys on keyboard to select date prior to installing patch, do that and click enter, your done, back where you where:)
Thanx for that information Lobo . I'm currently at work but will try it once i'm back home. I would however like to understand  where should I go from then if my computer does reboot. I hear these amazing results from tweaking. For your information my DSL runs PPPoE. Should I try to reinstall those patches? What about that @HOME patch. Thanks for your input. Also what would you recommend on backing up the registry and restoring it.
Go to help page below in signature and just download Cablenut, install and try that, heres how, download on help page:
How to install Cablenut Software
Download and install soft ware, a box should come up with select your OS (Operating System) This is very, very important as it enters the correct registry entries.
This will also install Cablenut on your desktop, click on this and RIGHT click on adjuster, click on shortcut to desktop, this will put it on your desktop. Click on adjuster and to be sure to click on options at top, choose operating system and make sure you have selected right one, very important. OK, close out of that.
Next, inside Cablenut on desktop click on that, then ccs (Cablenut Custom Settings) select which type of connection you have, 56K, PPPoE or DSL, or Cable. Then select the setting you think best for your connection. 9x means Win 95/98/SE/ME, 2k would be Win 2000 and XP. Fast or normal, depends on you, try both and see which one you like best, just go back to top of adjuster click on file and select the ccs setting you like best, click on save to registry at bottom and REBOOT.
This will enter some values in adjuster, blank boxes only mean that default value is being used, click on save to registry at bottom (Do this anytime you change a value in adjuster and REBOOT or it will not work.
Note: Check back often for updates and new patches
Also on 2nd page of help page in my signature it tells you how to save your setting's. Installing Cablenut Software will remove any prior patches:)
This would take out our patch too

Ok, here is my problem. I have a DSL connection. I upgraded my operating system from 98 to 2000 pro. Problem is, my DSL connects then freezes after logging on to network now. I have called the support team there but they were absolutely no help. Does anyone think that tweaking is my answer, or is there a bigger underlying problem here. Has anyone ever heard of this before???
Thanks
J
You didn't put any 98 tweaks in did you:)
hey lobo,
I've managed to get my computer to run now. I edited the registry and changed 1454 to 1492. When I run the TCP/IP Analyzer I get a 1486. Also I followed all the settings on your help page. However, my download using Gozilla will max at an average of about 80k/s. After about 5-10min it will die down... :(
I'm using cablenut and then chose the w2k with pppoe setting from cablenut and this time the download will go from 0 to 80 to 0 in a few seconds. Nothing for a second and do the hill again then die down. Please advise...
You change the MTU in instllation file that came with DSL to 1492, then reboot and do this after:
Please click in my signature where it says Test your tweak here, then:
At top where it says edit click and select, Select all,
Then go back to same edit button at top, click and select copy.
Come back to Speedguide, same thread you were on, in post reply box, with cursor blinking at begining of box go to top, edit, click, select paste, click, this will put information in box. Please X out your IP address, Thank you.:)
WHy do you use Gozilla, it's spyware on list here (http://www.infoforce.qc.ca/spyware/enknownlistfrm.html)
Also Cablenut has new beta patch out you should check out, I like it here (http://www.broadbandnuts.com/) :) :)

No I didn't do any tweaks at all to the win 98 os. It worked beautifuly. Now it freezes after logon to the dsl provider. They tested their lines, and said all is fine on their end.
well with download problems :( I still prefer to use some download manager and ended up with gozilla. Do you know of a good download manager without spyware? Also the cablenut i'm using is the beta one.
No I don't know of any download thing but that may be your problem, take analyzer test and post:) :)

LOBO
So do you think tweaking may be the answer to my problems, or do you think I should go back to the 98 operating system??
Are you on PPPoE or regular DSL
PPPoE you have to log on with name and password.
PPPoE ( Point-to-Point Protocol over Ethernet ) is a method for building PPP sessions and encapsulating packets, as described in RFC2516. Although it is not a standard, PPPoE is already being used by a number of DSL providers. It requires either routers that have built-in PPPoE support, or PPPoE software to "dial up" and establish the session.

LOBO
Yes PPPoE. I have a logon name and password.
You did not put W2K on same Drive letter with 98 did you:)

of course not. Totally reformatted hard drive, then installed win2k.
3rd request, take analyzer test and post:)

I'll try it, but it will probably seize prior to page finishes to load.
Are you sure you have all W2k drivers on your computer:)
Unless he said soemthing that you guys edited out you should all stop getting on his case.
I had this problem a number of times... a few of the times the default patch fixed it and other times I had to reinstall things including windows one time.
If you would like I will send you my registry file for internet explorer.. I do not use an reg "tweaks" because my cable already reaches its cap easily.
I dont even reccomend using any patches either from here or from some other site... If for some reason your connection isnt up to par you could try setting your recieve window manually because IMHO thats the ONLY thing that will do any thing for your conection.
post me your email address so i can send you the reg file.
I'm sorry lobo,
I'm at work and not at my PC at the moment. I'll have to wait for my room mate to wake up then I'll try to get it posted.
haojan, please start a new thread
:)
Do you have any 9x drivers on your puter, please start new thread:)
