Yes my friend accquire cable connection yesterday. Well he just had them hook up the wires an such.
An i was gonna install the software an plug in the modem.
So i get their an i noticed he had a TOSHIBA PCX1100u the one with the usb an ethernet ports. I was like Wow that looks f'n cool an it's small.
I look at it an go hmm no nic? WTF then i noticed the usb which meant the nic was built in. Yeah I know I sound suprised. Well it's cause I own the big ole white mortorla modem from back in 1998 when i got it i believe.
Okay So i assumed it would be simple. I plug in the USB plug Windows automatically detects it ask for the cd with the drivers.
I do that reboot an then go click IE But i get some wacked out error messagebox with a yellow Exclaimation point in it. I click it an IE closes down.
I try winipcfg I see it's getting an ip an such.
Then I ping the ip itself i get a response then i ping my ip an i get a response.
I know it's not IE cause when i was building their comp week before i used my own nic in it to update drivers IE worked fine.
So I'm assuming it's a Usb driver problem.
Then I say hmm I'll take it home an give it a wack over their an download the updated drivers. He said sure man.
I get home plug everything thing in. But when i go to actually plug the Cable line into his modem the green light wouldn't come on or it would just flash repeatly fast.
I was mindboggled why doesn't the crap work? It's the same stuff i assume. Or could it be the fact my cable wire differs from his?
Or it's just not possible to do it since his wires were program to reconigze his??
What's the Dily Yo?? I should just let the @home techies do it right since I'm at a loss but not to say they aren't great but I don't think they would be able to fix it? Maybe Getting a nic for his comp an not using the USB would work?
